This year, each of you will be working with a mentor from The Wall Street Journal.
You need to make the first contact with your mentor. Type up a letter introducing yourself. Mention what your job is on the paper, what you plan to do next year (if you're a senior), what interest you have in journalism, and any other interesting thing you think a professional would need to know about you. You might also ask them how they got started in journalism, where they went to college and what they do at the WSJ.
Once you have typed your letter, print it and show it to me. Once I approve your letter, you may e-mail it to your mentor. Remember that you are writing to a professional writer, so watch your grammar and mechanics. This is not a time to write as if you were sending a text.
If the e-mail bounces back or you do not hear from your mentor by the end of the week, please let me know. The more you put into this, more you get out of it.
