New Bill Would Set Strict Disclosure Requirements for Crisis-Pregnancy Centers
This article is about the city council making a new legislation that emergency centers for abortion has to state what they provide and what they can offer instead of tricking the women. On less a medical provider is onsite then the information has to be disclosed immediately to the women. Because of this new bill, the centers are required to hang posters and signs informing their clients. Many abortion centers are saying that the law violates freedom of speech telling the clinics what not to say and basically having a control over them. Christine Quinn who supports the legislation says that it only want the truth in advertisement. Ms. Lapin from Manhattan stated that these women are scared and willing to listen to what ever they are being told and these folks in anti choice centers misleading the is not right. Mr. Slattory, someone who doesn’t agree with the bill is saying how many New York City businesses are told that they should hang signs up about what they offer. Under the bill, fines for violations range from $200 to $2,500. Centers with three or more violations within two years could be shuttered for a maximum of five days. The bill also wants the centers to keep their clients information quiet and not share it with others.
The lead of the story was actually pretty good allowing one to get captured by the article. The head line of the article was also written in proper mood. This is important because NYC has a lot of these centers around so it should be able to manage it self well and provide clients with the proper help. In addition, many students from our school gets pregnant, what if they were to end up in one of these places.
