Before a Suicide, Hints in Online Musings

This article is about a homosexual boy who committed suicide after he found out his roommate was taping his personal times with his male lover. The decease's roommate, Dharun Ravi and his friend Molly Wei where the two who were involved in the taping and posting of the video, and they are now in the process of waiting for their sentence. The article talks about some possible jail time of maybe 5-10 years. They are being accused of having something to do with the suicide of Tyler Clementi. People are questioning if there is a possibility that Tyler felt pressured and humiliated and this resulted in his death. They said his posts online were about how people are looking at him in a negative light, and overlooking the fact that his privacy was violated. They are looking at Ravi as the victim when he is the one in the wrong.
I think the headline of the story is good. I think it will definitely catch the attention of a lot of readers. The sources of the story are people who knew the two students who were responsible for the taping. I think the story would have been much better if a quote from those students were included in the story. I think those quotes would have made the story more interesting to read, because I am sure people want to know about how they feel in this situation, and how things are taking a toll on them. I think more information about cyber bullying should have been added in this article. That would have given the readers a clearer idea of the importance of this issue. This article uses human interest because I think a lot of people are concerned with the events that take place on college campuses, especially with their children. People who can relate to Clementi would also be interested in this because they can identify with the verbal abuse they face over the Internet.
I chose to write this story because the headline caught my attention. I also wanted to raise awareness on the fact that what people say online can have a major affect on people and the way they live their life. people should watch what they say and do to others so things like this can be avoided.
I really liked this article because it highlights the different things humans can do to pull each other to the edge. I really enjoyed this article because recently there as been a trend of teenagers to young adults committing suicide because of bullying they receive from other people in the world. I agree that this was a good pick for an article because it can help raise awareness and show others the affect cyber bullying can have on people.
