News/Opinion idea - Grading teachers

There is lots of controversy right now about the Department of Education's plan to release grades for each of its teachers (4th-8th grades only) and rank them based on their effectiveness. This could be a news story - what do teachers think about this? What about students and administrators? Should teachers be graded?

This could easily be an opinion article too - what do you think, should teachers be given a letter grade, much like how you are in class? Why?

News/Features: Ms. Birchard and Ms. K created a community service club. Word is they have quite a few members from all grades and have already been participating in several events, including a breast cancer walk. See them for more info.

Here's a cool idea for someone to do a story one (maybe features or even news?): Names
You could interview people about their names and what they mean and how they were named. Perhaps a chart of common and unusual names?
