I find the headline of this story to be very intriguing and eye catching simply because you don't usually see phone companies returning money to customers because they made a mistake. That is very unusual and rare that you see something like this occurring. This headline works with the story because it sets a very hyperactive mood. It gives the reader the impression that the highlight of the story will be a good one. The lead was an WHO lead. It was very informative and states exactly who will be receiving the $90 million dollars. This lead was effective because it told the readers exactly what was taking place in the very first sentence. It went straight to the point and kept the readers interested, leaving them wanting to read more. the only sources that i saw in the article was the Verizon Wireless Company, Mary Coyne a deputy general counsel for Verizon Wireless, and the Federal Communications Commission. This article could have used some more sources such as some customers who were wrongfully charged by the Verizon Company. This would make the story much more interesting as opposed to just plainly stating what happened and that's it. The readers would like to know what were some of the specific complaints made. This article could also use more information. It seems to me as though the article was very vague and boring. The article started off very interesting but as i continued to read I lost interest in the story very quickly. I think the article could have used more "interesting facts" to spice up the story. I think this article is newsworthy because everyone has a cellphone nowadays and since Verizon Wireless is one of the top phone companies, this article would pertain to those customers. Things like this always occurs, when a customer is being overcharged for something they don't use but this time the customers are being heard.
I chose to write about this article because most of my family is a Verizon Wireless customer and they're always having some dispute with the Verizon Network because they are being overcharged. We always report the problem but Verizon never gets back to us and we ending up paying additional fees for features we never used.

When I read the headline I immediately thought about a terror attack occuring and that's what grasped my attention. The headline associates with the story because it is putting an alert out for a terror attack in europe but also saying how others may be effected due to connections. The lead was a when lead and the author used the fact that an alert was issued to gain the attention of the readers. A source in this story was The State Departments Undersecretary of State Patrick Kennedy. This source was used as an in source who can verify threats and movements. I think a they should have said how serious the treat is and to what measures should we prepare. This is news worthy because it is for the protection of the people.
I feel like the U.S should really step up protection from terrorist activity. They can even try to find out what terrorist actually want. They have to want something or do they really want to just keep killing themselves for what they believe in? I also feel that the U.S government knows more then what their telling the citizens and that's why they send out little warning so that citizens can at least be aware.

California Reduces Its Penalty for Marijuana

This article is about the decision the governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger has made to reduce the penalty for someone who is found with an ounce or less of marijuana. The bill states that having up to an ounce of marijuana is liable to a fine of $100 and offenders wouldn’t be arrested or run the risk of having a criminal record. Schwarzenegger defended passing this bill by stating that normally being charged with possession of marijuana is a misdemeanor which requires the defendant to have a jury trial and because of budget cuts many court officials can’t spend limited resources trying to prosecute a crime that has the same punishment as a traffic ticket.
The headline of this story grabbed my attention because it makes the reader think that marijuana is on its way to becoming legalized in California and maybe that will soon start happening in other states around the country. The lead of the story is very short and to point because it tells the reader that now getting caught with marijuana in California doesn’t have a harsh punishment as before. The sources made this story because they included the Governor himself and the California state director for the Drug Policy Alliances, other sources that could have been used are member of the police force to see how they feel this new law will affect the streets of California and citizens of California to see how they feel about the new law that has been put into place. This article could have used some statistics on the percentage of people who are arrested with possession of marijuana up to one ounce and how long it takes to prosecute these crimes to show readers how big of an impact this new law would have on the state of California. This story uses human interest because a lot of people are interested in knowing whether this new law may start popping up in different states.
I chose this article because I found it very interesting that slowly but surely possession of marijuana is becoming less and less of an infraction in the legal system. It was interesting to see that this new law was passed in California and the possibility of a law like this passing in another state seems a little higher now. As a teenager in our modern day society where marijuana is a very acceptable drug it was interesting to imagine how a bill like this is going to affect the people of California and the United States as a whole.

The sources of the article are the Baltimore police and the Baltimore police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi. However, I do think that more things could have been added to the story. I think that people who witnessed the shooting should have been interviewed. I also think that possible reasons that account for the girl's aggressive behavior could have been included. Such information could have informed readers of sociol psychological reasons that made a young girl shoot two men.

Online posts foreshadow a Suicide at Rutgers!

This article is about a homosexual boy who committed suicide after he found out his roommate was taping his personal times with his male lover. The decease's roommate, Dharun Ravi and his friend Molly Wei where the two who were involved in the taping and posting of the video, and they are now in the process of waiting for their sentence. The article talks about some possible jail time of maybe 5-10 years. They are being accused of having something to do with the suicide of Tyler Clementi. People are questioning if there is a possibility that Tyler felt pressured and humiliated and this resulted in his death. They said his posts online were about how people are looking at him in a negative light, and overlooking the fact that his privacy was violated. They are looking at Ravi as the victim when he is the one in the wrong.
I think the headline of the story is good. I think it will definitely catch the attention of a lot of readers. The sources of the story are people who knew the two students who were responsible for the taping. I think the story would have been much better if a quote from those students were included in the story. I think those quotes would have made the story more interesting to read, because I am sure people want to know about how they feel in this situation, and how things are taking a toll on them. I think more information about cyber bullying should have been added in this article. That would have given the readers a clearer idea of the importance of this issue. This article uses human interest because I think a lot of people are concerned with the events that take place on college campuses, especially with their children. People who can relate to Clementi would also be interested in this because they can identify with the verbal abuse they face over the Internet.
